Pinterest Inspired Icon Crochet Pattern

Materials

  • Worsted weight gray yarn.
  • Worsted weight deep pink yarn.
  • Size J crochet hook
  • Darning needle (for weaving in ends and attaching components)

Abbreviations

  • CH = chain
  • SC = single crochet
  • HDC = half double crochet
  • DC = double crochet
  • st = stitch
  • sl st = slip stitch

 

Directions – Background Circle

R1: with gray yarn, ch 3, 10 HDC in 3rd ch from hook (10).

R2: 2 HDC in ea st (20).

R3: *1HDC, 2HDC* repeat all the way around (30).

R4: *1HDC, 1HDC, 2HDC* repeat all the way around (40).

R5: *1HDC, 1HDC, 1HDC, 2HDC* repeat all the way around, sl st to join (50). Finish gray yarn.

R6: Join pink yarn at any point around gray circle. ch 1, sc in ea st, sl st to join.  Finish. Weave in ends.

 

Directions – “P” Components (2)

Component One – Stem of “P”

R1: Using pink yarn, ch 7.

R2: Using top loops only, SC in first 6 ch’s beginning with 2nd ch from hook, turn,

R3: ch 1, still using top loops only, sc in next 2 st’s (down the side of the stem) and keep loop open and cut long tail – you will come back once 2nd component is done.

Component Two – Circle of “P”

R1: ch 14, SC in first two ch’s beginning with 2nd ch from hook, 2SC in next ch, 1SC in next two ch’s, 2SC in next ch, 1SC in next three ch’s, 2SC in next ch, 1SC in next 3 ch’s, sl st to Component One.

Finish leaving long tail.

 

Finishing

Using the long tails, stitch the “P” shape to the background circle.  Weave in ends.
